Roses are blooming all over Madrid, and here was a bonus gnome.
First stop, RIBS and the most delicious roasted peppers that were somehow crunchy on the edges like french fries. For once I excused the boys from eating any vegetables and I ate them all myself. Wyatt got a tiny shriveled bit the size of a dried slug and said, "You were right! This really is good!"
That is an enormous octopus bubbling in a magnificent copper pot.
Here is the same sized pot with four entire hams boiling at once. Boiled ham is "York" to distinguish it from dried spanish ham.
I am sure you could guess what the boys' first thought was: these three-foot long gummy candies. The chocolate seller offered pure chocolate to another customer. She was surprised that it tasted like dirt, even though he warned her that it had no sugar, no milk, no nothing. He rolled up a little paper cornet for the boys with a dramatic flourish. I like to think that his day job is as a banker or plumber, but I suppose you could make a living just going around to all the different festivals.
Their other first thought was SWORDS.
The first thing you see on the way in is the photo op from Game of Thrones. Wyatt wanted his photo done, bu this was as close as he got. Here they are selling silk worms. The worms themselves are silky soft.
Wyatt was the last to leave when the magician finished, so entranced is he by magic. There were also street musicians and military regiments from all different periods.
