Finally something good to say

People ask how my kids are doing at Spanish school and I usually have to execute a polite evasion. "It was hard at first, but it is better now."  Finally today at an Embassy coffee, I had something really great to say.
Tristan takes the train to youth group as you all know.  He catches a particular train where he meets a young man who helps with the youth group for the rest of the trip.  Tuesday, he put his money in the machine and got nothing back:  no change, no tickets, no money.  At first, the agent opened the gate so he could go on the platform, but he still had no change, no money and no ticket.  He tracked her down and got her to take a look at the machine.  She had to call her manager, but he waited until she had opened the machine twice and finally retrieved his money.
He said the worst part was the panic you feel as you are about to miss your train, but then you miss it and it is no big deal.  Thank goodness for cell phones to let the other guy know!
He did all that in Spanish by himself, and then helped the next young man who came along and tried to feed a bill into the machine.  If that happens, you have to come up with change or cross over to the other side of the station.
At the coffee, someone took my number for a new family that is considering sending their children to Spanish school.  I had to say that I did not recommend it.  Maybe I should recommend it, though, rather than assuming that no one else wants to do the challenging things that we do.  I know it is worthwhile, and some other people think so too. (though not anyone I've met.)
I don't know what to blog about!  I said I would prepare an 8-week bible study on Hosea, about how to study the Bible for  yourself, so I am working on that.  That's not really blog material.
I tell everyone who will listen about my Cancer Society adventure.  But I feel a little guilty about complaining.  My Spanish professor was incensed that they said I didn't speak Spanish, but then she might be biased in my favor.  Her mom is in the hospital for, you guessed it, breast cancer, and she said, "My mom would LOVE for you to visit her."  So I did.  That's not really blog material either.
I went to the Christian bookstore and to lunch with a group of church ladies, again not blog material.  I tried to take a picture of the bullring, but a bus was always in the way.
I wish I had a picture of Wyatt's beautiful child-like smile.  Sad to say, it has been absent for so long that now when I see it, I suspect that he is up to something.  But just maybe, we are all adjusting and he really is happy.
